Mint Julep
Kentucky's finest, freezer-ready
About this cocktail
The Mint Julep is the Kentucky Derby's official drink and the South's answer to the Old Fashioned. Bourbon, fresh mint, and a generous amount of crushed ice in a silver or copper cup. The traditional service involves muddling fresh mint into sugar, which doesn't translate to a bottle. Our freezer version uses a pre-made mint syrup (fresh mint blended into rich simple syrup, then strained), which delivers the same flavor without the texture risk. Pour the batched bourbon over crushed ice and garnish with a generous bouquet of fresh mint at serve. The mint flavor in the syrup peaks in the first 48 hours and stays acceptable for about a week.
Pick a cocktail to batch
Shaken citrus drinks pick up more water from ice. Spirit-forward stirred drinks need less; freezer batches often need none.
Your Batch
Aim for around 22% ABV or higher to keep the batch pourable in the freezer.
Remove this much spirit to make room. Save it for later.
At Serve
How to serve
